Scanning

Any flat material, e.g. photographs, prints, certificates, newspaper clippings and documents, can be scanned and put onto DVD, CD-ROM or video tape.Typical uses might be: as part of a family history video; a personal video diary; a business presentation; local history documentary film; etc.

It is important that scans are made at the correct resolution for video display, ideally using a high end quality flat bed scanner such as the one shown opposite. KLA has years of experience in this and in addition to producing a high quality scan we can also digitally enhance or repair your image. For example, you may have an old photograph or colour slide which has stains and scratches on it. In many cases we can make these look as good as new and certainly will always effect some improvement over the original.

This can bring the material to life and there is tremendous flexibility in the process. When editing the video tape, various transitions as well as zooms into parts of the image and pans across the image can add movement to your 'still' image and the experience can be further enhanced with the addition of music and commentary. There are so many exciting ways in which you can use this sort of material in a video production.

Our standard charge for scanning is just £3.53 (incl vat) per image (e.g. photo, illustration, slide etc.). Additional image processing would mean extra cost, but only if required; and of course the cost would be dependent upon how much work was involved. We would be happy to provide you with a no obligation fixed quote on that work if you wish.
